Surfzup101 With this camera, I looked at the Panasonic HVX200, Sony, JVC 200, and even Canon's older brother X1. I found this to have fantastic reviews on DVinfo.net, a forum beautiful video. My concern about 24 f vs 24p were addressed to my satisfaction, it is not really a difference. I like the tape on HVX expensive storage solutions. One problem I had was that look like a pro camera? This is important in some situations where the equipment gives you added credibilty with clients and talent. As soon as I opened the box I was in love! It is a remarkable camera. Especially with the wide angle to choose from Canon and matte box provided, this camera does not go to your mother. I really like the manual control so you do not have to navigate through menus to change parameters. The layout of everything is great. I really like the dual on / off and zoom control top of the handle plus the rear right side and pull the lever for low or medium height shots are very, very comfortable and the controls are perfectly placed. The only downside, and it is of secondary importance. The matte box is a bit thin, lightweight plastic. That helps with the weight, but I worry about breaking. You could say that the HDV codec is not as good as DVCPRO, but my eye does not see. The colors are great and it blows away many other cameras in low light. If you are looking for point and shoot, it's not your child, but if you want a high quality camera for a really good price, this is it! 70 of 72 people found the following review helpful. Perfect companion to the XL H1 By Brian R. Findlay About a year ago I bought an XL-H1 and Sony HVR-A1U one to do work on a documentary While Sony has proven an excellent camera in its own right, not cut well with the XL-H1, and the picture quality in bright light was near as well in dark environments, but things just fell apart. So I bought this camera XH A1. I thought when I bought the XL-H1 I would eventually buy a second if I could afford, but I found no compelling reason in a few seconds. (1) Jack Pack is great if you plan to carry around a RAID array and a generator. I'm sure it would be nice to put a run scorer like me ;-) (sarcasm). Although I've heard people criticize the HDV format for compression and artifacts not seen with either format without compression you get from the HD / SDI .. I personally think that a person who in 1000 was the difference in the end to tell (and they could be faking, I can not). This picture is nothing less than breathtaking period. (2) I thought I had two cameras that I could synchronize the clocks is necessary. But it's really not hard to do in an editor only to find a frame synchronization (such as a handshake, etc.) and go from there. (3) I wanted the TC output to an external audio recorder 24-bit (the camera does not have the HL-H1) to drive. Well, after I get it to work, I've never used .. I have a lot of 24-bit recording, but as the video, it was easy to synchronize with external editor in the suite. The autofocus on this camera is extremely improved over the XL H1. I never miss an XL-H1 in "auto" anything I'm doing this camera, as he seems to have more intelligence, so I recommend you, "LOW" and not the automatic win to set to -3 in the Configuration menu. Anyway the manual white balance. I've always supported at all in the manual as a better control and fewer unexpected problems to run, but I would recommend this camera a lot more than the XL-H1 confidence in a car.
