Manufacturer Description From the leaders in the imaging industry, the Canon FS-series are the next-generation Flash Memory camcorders made for shooting great video and photos. The Flash memory format delivers optimal image quality, quick response time, flexible media exchange, and extended recording times, all in a compact and lightweight body. The FS10 provides outstanding features such as 48x Advanced Zoom and an 8 GBinternal Flash drive as well as an SDHC card slot for extended storage of your once-in-a-lifetime memories. Canon FS10 Highlights Dual Flash Memory -- taking video to the next level Canon’s breakthrough use of Dual Flash Memory -- the ability to record to an internal Flash drive as well as a removable SDHC memory card -- allows consumers to experience a new level of performance, style and flexibility. Dual Flash Memory allows consumers to record video to the camcorder’s internal Flash drive even if they do not have a memory card. When the internal Flash drive becomes full, footage can be easily transferred to a SDHC memory card and when it comes time to view their video, the card is simply inserted into a memory card reader in a computer or HDTV for instant viewing. Furthermore, having a SDHC memory card slot allows for expandability, since greater capacity can be added in the future by purchasing additional cards. Record Video on an Internal 8 GB Flash Drive The FS10 enables video to be recorded to an internal 8 GB Flash drive or directly to SDHC cards. Enjoy the great convenience of recording directly to drive or the flexibility of convenient, easily interchangeable recording media. 1/6-inch, 1.07-megapixel CCD image sensor Whether you’re shooting video or photos, you will benefit from the camcorder’s razor-sharp CCD image sensor. Genuine Canon 48x Advanced Zoom Capture the action from even farther away when using Canon’s exclusive Advanced Zoom. By utilizing Genuine Canon Optics and the DIGIC DV II Image Processor, Canon has developed a new way to extend beyond the optical zoom, both wide and telephoto, while continuing to maintain optimal image quality. With Canon’s Advanced Zoom, you can now enjoy stunning video from any distance. Image stabilizer Shoot rock-steady video -- even when you’re at maximum telephoto without a tripod. It is even effective while panning or zooming. DIGIC DV II image processor DIGIC DV II is the next generation of Canon's exclusive DIGIC DV signal processing technology. Even though video and still images have different color requirements, DIGIC DV II digital signal processing ensures optimal image quality for both video and still images. Thanks to DIGIC DV II image processing, the FS10 produces video with improved color reproduction -- especially in skin tones, and dark and light scenes. It also uses a hybrid noise reduction system that employs two types of noise reduction -- for images that are crystal clear. Quick Start Instead of powering off your camcorder between shots, simply press the Quick Start button to put the camcorder in stand-by mode. Quick Start considerably reduces the power consumption of the battery and allows the user to return to recording mode in less than a second, so you’ll never miss another special moment. Widescreen HR recording The FS10 records true widescreen for picture perfect video. The best feedback from customers 133 of 134 people found this review helpful. Can it get any better? By Mark A. Family Garlitz Open box, I was surprised FS10! Fits in the palm of your hand (the size of a soda can) and feels like a finely designed equipment. I started to record video from two minutes later! Let us refrain from technical jargon and go directly to picture quality ... awesome! I recorded the video in my shop and was immediately impressed by how well the camera compensates for the light shining through my window. A quick look around and wonder "how is it to focus so quickly?" The focus is immediate and accurate. Now really cool thing - when you exit zoom mode, you can concentrate on the hair of a fly! Well, I was a fly, but literally could reach 1 / 2 "of an object and still have the immediate focus. How do they do? Not create the macro approach, which works like the human eye. OK, what prompted the zoom. Well, we had a Comcast guy working on a telephone pole about 200 'from my office I filmed from my window. The camera had no problem focusing, and anti-shake feature of the camera seemed incredible. I've seen other anti-shake blur as the camera and not digital, which have arisen. The FS10 has somehow eliminated the blurring. I actually zoom tool on the tape of the boy, and Comcast could read the label! It is no exaggeration. OK, now for the real test ... transferred to the video on my computer. Previously, I hooked my audio / video cables up to my video capture card and then passed through a long process of capturing and then cover stuff and then put the video on DVD. With the FS10, I loaded the software, connect the USB cable, selected my video thumbnail explorer from one type of program, and 1 minute later I was watching videos with Windows Media Player. MPEG is the file directly from the camcorder! Remember that this camcorder without a tape, so you really do is transfer a file from the camcorder to your hard drive to burn a DVD from it becomes a no brainer. What else? Well, no moving parts to wear out. Yes, you have a zoom, but that was it. I think the zoom button had a cheap feel, but not bad. One last thing. I have recorded on video in a lit room dimmly last night. The picture is grainy. Not really impressed with it, but maybe there is a setting for low light conditions. I clicked on the video light and it helped a lot. Canon uses an LED light - so minimal battery consumption when using candles. All in all! Very impressive 67 of 67 people found the following review helpful. I'm impressed! By Danny radically Let me first say that I spent 2 weeks researching camcorders before buying it. Many mixed reviews on many different websites. What sold me was the fact that there are no tapes, DVDs, or other wear mechanisms, in addition to the zoom No moving parts means that the batteries last longer. The microphone is a great advantage, in addition to being compact. Upon arrival I was amazed by the size and weight. After trying it, there were some negative aspects that could be solved. 1.The biggy 'for me was not the aim threads for adding filters and effects to keep the fog and dust from the lens during filming. I found a couple of universal adapters, but the lenses were too large for the context of small cameras. I decided to try something. The axis of the lens measured 34 mm so I found a 34 mm to 37mm step ring of silver metal on eBay for $ 2. Now I used hot glue on the threads of the walking ring and quickly placed in the Canon. They fit perfectly and looks as if it were still there and if you want to remove it, because, who knows, the glue will just remove the barrel without leaving marks. Now I can attach a UV filter, wide angle lens .. etc. 2. No hot shoe. Ebay again ... found a cold shoe handle that attaches to the camera and gives me a place to LED Spotlight and an external microphone ... costs less than $ 15 3. $ 80 for a replacement.
