The Canon Exclusive 2.39-megapixel HD CMOS Image Sensor captures high definition video and photos with astonishing detail, while Canon’s Exclusive DIGIC DV III Image Processor provides the ultimate in color and imaging performance, with enhanced reproduction of difficult to capture purple and blue tones. Instant AF A critical objective when shooting in high definition is achieving the sharpest focus possible. The VIXIA HF R100 camcorder features Canon's revolutionary Instant AF focusing system which offers a dramatic improvement in auto focus speed and accuracy, compared to traditional auto focus systems. The Instant AF feature uses an external sensor, in combination with Canon's auto focus system, to help significantly decrease the time it takes to find focus, even in low light conditions. This system achieves focus instantaneously, reducing focus "hunting." This is especially beneficial in high brightness or night shooting situations. In addition, with Instant AF, it's possible to capture fast, accurate focusing even when following a moving subject. To further enhance focusing capability, the VIXIA HF R100 also features Focus Assist. This helps in capturing your subject in razor-sharp focus. It works by providing a 2x magnification of your subject, which is automatically cancelled when you start recording. This is a feature normally found in professional broadcast-quality cameras. Dynamic IS With the Canon VIXIA HF R100, you can be sure that even on the move your video will be smooth, steady and professional looking. The Dynamic IS system provides continuous adjustment throughout the entire zoom range to correct a broader range of motion. In comparison to conventional electronic image stabilization systems, extra compensation is applied at wide-angle focal lengths to eliminate unwanted vibration common when shooting while walking. 2.7" Widescreen LCD The 2.7" Widescreen LCD on the VIXIA HF R100 lets you see more of what your camcorder is recording. There's no need to imagine what your final image will look like on your widescreen television because it's squeezed into a small space while you're shooting. Smart Auto Smart Auto makes shooting great video easier than ever before. Using the power of Canon’s DIGIC DV III Image Processor, the VIXIA HF R100 intelligently detects and analyzes faces, brightness, color, distance, and movement, then automatically selects the best settings for the scene. Whether you are capturing a sunset, a day at the beach, or a fast-paced soccer game, Smart Auto delivers exceptionally accurate results. Genuine Canon Face Detection The same high quality Face Detection technology used in Canon digital cameras is available in Canon high definition camcorders. Up to 35 faces can be tracked automatically, ensuring razor-sharp focus and natural, accurate exposure. Of the faces tracked, 9 detection frames can be displayed at one time. In fact, the system is so intelligent that it will recognize faces turned downwards or sideways. In addition, a specific face may be selected as the main subject for continuous tracking. This feature is convenient in searching for clips which feature that specific subject's face. In search and playback, use of the Face Index will display those frames with the chosen face as a thumbnail in each shot in which it appears. Your selected face can also be linked as a timeline to further identify footage containing your subject. Advanced Video Snapshot Advanced Video Snapshot allows you to capture the highlights of a once in a lifetime trip or a family milestone with the same ease as taking photos. Simply record a series of short video clips – or select your favorite clips while in Playback Mode – and blend in your favorite background music to create an exciting movie that will hold everyone’s attention. This version of Advanced Video Snapshot allows selectable recording time of 2, 4, or 8 seconds. Additionally, audio from an external source, such as an MP3 player, can be played along with the snapshot movie and playback can be controlled from that source. Easy File Sharing The VIXIA HF R100 is also compatible with the Eye-Fi SD Memory Card. It’s possible to wirelessly transfer photos to your computer, or upload them directly to online sharing sites in a few simple steps. Canon VIXIA HF R100 passionate SE Carver Since the purchase and use of the Canon VIXIA HF R100 (search C925-1520) for a month since 04.08.2010, has changed my opinion skeptical doubt enthusiastic fans. I am a non-professional, who was sometimes machines used by more video (Beta, VHS, 8mm, Mini DV, HDD, DVD, HD and now the smart card SD) to capture the life events (rallies, parties, trips, sporting events, documentation of humans, animals, plants, plays and trips). Up to the instant cell HFR100 is now my A camera for video and omissions. Initially disappointed with the factory setting for the video. Once the camera to the HD mode CINE frame was set 24, the results are much clearer, more vivid, detailed and acceptable. Although slow panorama DIGIC III and DV 2.3 39 Megapixel HD CMOS process images fast enough to handle still images without emotion, the slower the past, HD-Cam (shooting from a moving car with VIXIA actually produced some good pictures and video clips) had a 20-fold (40 - 800mm 35mm eq create .) glass, gun quality lens is not threaded to accept threaded filters or wide angle / telephoto extension, but is about 1 cm depth behind the camera face, protect, and anything with a hood from surrounding light sources. An automatic drop-down on the camera works, lens cap when the cam is turned on / off This is a great feature to protect the lens while it finished quickly. The dynamic image stabilization worked great on 20X and was remarkably stable during filming during walking, with wide-angle settings. The digital zoom (20x oversampling mode) can be set to 80X or 400X, and this camera may be good enough to produce some good images in those areas. Instant AF was great. Focus has always been very close to being turned on or a bit of depth in the field was not "the focus of dance" or move the wrong way of focusing on a scale. The manual focus automatically enlarged on the LCD screen, so focus. The LCD screen quality was very sharp. Readability in direct sunlight has been reinforced with the lights on. The automatic face-detection autofocus has a fantastic job of keeping the focal plane of the faces, even in an atmosphere of action sports. This also worked well to keep focus flowers wildflowers. Menus and buttons are pretty intuitive, but the hard drive-based (also available for download from feom canon). Pdf manual to read all the feature-rich options for this device provides access. I usually carry the camera and off. The camera starts, focused, fast zooms and prepared very quickly (about 3 seconds) so it's hard to miss a shot. In addition, the new pre-record function contributes 3 sec video into the front of your clips to make it hard to take pictures missing, while the camera is turned on and pointed in the right direction for smart automatic setting works very well for the point-and-shoot for most all conditions to capture. For harsh environments, 10 manual modes that can perform well under extreme conditions. I was disappointed in low light results in Auto mode, but in low light situations, I was surprised to see how sharp color pictures that can be done in such a small light. An on-camera light is not available or necessary with this camera is not significant in low light action shots you want. Campfire candle, flashlight or moonlight is enough adequate lighting. Starlight is not handy with a bipod and pans. Stereo sound is light, adjustable and very accurate. The wind-absorbing filter was minimal - not enough. I have experimented with fungal material to the microphones to confirm. The camera records the sound in decibels down low irregular (something like a 16mm film sprocket) is noticeable when playing at high volume and could be questionable if you listen carefully to something close.
