The HG20 offers the unparalleled combination of Canon’s exclusive SuperRange Optical Image Stabilizer to stabilize a wide range of movements and Instant AF for accurate focusing that’s critical when shooting in HD. The HG20 features the latest HD technology, excellence in Canon optics and engineering in a compact, sleek design that delivers the high level of performance you’ve come to expect from Canon. Canon HG20 Highlights Record Up to 22 Hours of High Definition Video to a 60GB Hard Disk Drive For the first time from Canon comes a large-capacity hard disk drive camcorder. HG20 enables extended high definition videos to be recorded. There is no longer any fear of missing those precious scenes when replacing recording media. Enjoy the great convenience of no longer needing to purchase and carry recording media. And with the ability to record up to 22 hours of video without having to empty your camcorders’ hard drive; you can keep the action going for much longer than ever before. Genuine Canon 12x High Definition Video Lens The HG20 comes equipped with a 12x HD Video lens. An aspherical lens is used to help achieve low aberration and high resolution. The lens also features super spectra coating technology which lowers flare and ghosting. A gradation ND system is used for better exposure in bright shooting situations. This lens design creates true HD image quality. RGB Primary Color Filter Whether you're shooting video or photos, you will appreciate the HG20 stunning, high-definition image production. For rich, accurate color, the HG20 uses an RGB Primary Color Filter. It separates light into red, green, and blue color components, resulting in vibrant images with natural-looking tones similar to what you’d obtain from 3CCD camcorders. Canon 3.3 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Sensor (1920 x 1080) The HG20 features a newly developed; Canon manufactured HD CMOS Image Sensor. Similar to its use in Canon's EOS Series Digital SLR Cameras, the CMOS Sensor reproduces high resolution images as true HD movies. Canon's HD CMOS Sensor acquires image information at 1920 x 1080 pixels. Canon’s HD CMOS Sensor also features on-chip noise reduction technology. This low noise technology feature means that even in dimly-lit scenes, the signals from each pixel are as pure as possible, with minimal 'noise' or other aberrations. DIGIC DV II Image Processor DIGIC DV II is the latest generation of Canon's exclusive DIGIC DV signal processing technology designed specifically for HD. Thanks to DIGIC DV II image processing, the HG20 produces video with improved color reproduction -- especially in skin tones, and dark and light scenes. It also uses a hybrid noise reduction system that employs two types of noise reduction -- for images that are crystal clear. Since video and still images have different color requirements, DIGIC DV II HD digital signal processing ensures optimal image quality for both HD video and still images. 1920 x 1080 Full HD Recording The Canon HG20 not only captures images in Full HD, but records and outputs 1920 x 1080 as well, so you get Full HD from lens to screen. Experience the ultimate in clarity and detail. Instant AF (Auto Focus) Instant AF is Canon’s new and advanced autofocus system required for High Definition. Using a Hybrid Control system, the Instant AF makes it easy to focus on previously difficult subjects. It dramatically decreases the time it takes to achieve proper focus and increases accuracy especially in low-light and high-brightness situations. SuperRange Optical Image Stabilizer The HG20 features Canon’s SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Utilizing a Hybrid detection method (combining vector and gyro detection method) corrects camera shake instantly for steady shots. And unlike other optical stabilization systems, Canon's Super Range OIS covers a wide range of movements while preserving image quality. It is even effective while taking photos. 24Mbps Recording Offers the highest bit rate in AVCHD for High Definition video that captures extraordinary lifelike tonal quality and exceptionally fine detail. 24p Cinema Mode 24p Cinema Mode is a feature demanded by professional filmmakers and previously, only available on pro-level camcorders. 24p Cinema Mode enables all aspiring movie makers achieve a professional 'film-look'. This mode is actually two different features, which can be used independently, or together, depending on the user’s preference. 1. The captured frame rate changes to 24p -- the same frame rate as movie film. 2. The HG20 changes the color and tonal characteristics to make you feel like you are watching a movie in the theatre. 30p Progressive Mode 30p Progressive mode is a progressive format that is the perfect frame rate for the web because it delivers clarity for fast-action subjects. Plus, it is ideal for displaying crisp images on your home theatre system or computer monitor. Before now 30p was exclusively featured on pro-level camcorders but Canon now offers the widest frame rate options for every videographer. (Note: Records in 60i onto memory card.) Mini Advanced Accessory Terminal The Advanced Accessory Shoe allows the use of additional accessories such as Canon's video light and directional microphone. Compared with Canon’s original Advanced Accessory Shoe, the new version is 50% smaller in size. Built-in Auto Lens Cover A built-in electronic lens cover automatically opens when the camcorder is turned 'On' and closes when turned 'Off'. There is no dangling lens cover to lose. Quick Start Instead of powering your camcorder off between shots, simply close the LCD to activate the Quick Start function which puts the camcorder in stand-by mode. Quick Start considerably reduces the power consumption of the battery and allows the user to return to recording mode in less than a second, so you’ll never have to miss another special moment. Program AE Mode The HG20 gives you a choice of settings that automatically result in the best exposure for different conditions. Scene modes include: Portrait, Sports, Night, Snow, Beach, Sunset, Spotlight, and Fireworks. Each adjusts your camcorder's settings to compensate for different lighting conditions and different subjects. Simultaneous Photo Shooting While shooting an HD movie, you can simultaneously capture photos to a memory card by simply pressing the photo button. It's perfect for anytime you don't want to miss a moment. Headphone Terminal The audio/video terminal doubles as a headphone terminal for monitoring sound while recording. Focus Assist function When shooting in high definition, a properly focused subject is more critical than ever. With one push of the Focus Assist Button (during manual focus setting), video zoom (that enlarges the on-screen image of your subject) is displayed. Not to worry, this is automatically cancelled when recording is started. It's easy to keep your HG20 level for more professional looking video. Simply press the Level Shot Control button, and a horizontal marker appears in your viewfinder. Then line up any horizontal lines in your shot to the marker and you know your camcorder is level. The Grid marker is also very convenient for setting up the special balance in your shots. And since background colors vary, you can select from two line colors to make the lines easily visible. You can also select variable so you can control the speed manually. 3.1 Megapixel Photos Capture stunning 3.1 Megapixel photos in 4:3 aspect ratio to an SD card (2.07 megapixel at 16:9). Photo Grab With this professional level feature, capture photos during playback. With one push of a button you can 'grab a 2 Megapixel (1920 x 1080) still from your HD video footage. There is no need to worry about taking a photo while you’re shooting. 9 Point Ai-AF Mode Auto Intelligent Auto Focus ensures sharp images and gives creative flexibility. Even when your subject isn't in the center of the frame, the HG20’s Ai-AF function will automatically select from 9 focus areas on screen to help bring images into sharp focus. Built-in Flash Capture superb images in low light and indoor photography settings. Histogram Display Commonly used in Canon’s line of digital SLR cameras, the HG20 features a Histogram Display. With just one push of a button, the brightness information of a still image is revealed. This allows you to monitor image quality so you can make adjustments to improve the next shots. Print/Share Button For fast and easy, one-touch printing of your photos at home, simply press the camcorder’s Print & Share Button. The button can also be used for one-touch downloading of your images to a computer. One Year Parts and Labor Limited Warranty Canon’s one year camcorder limited warranty provides protection long after other manufacturers’ warranties expire.

Bill me this camera today, I wanted HG10 because it is cheaper, but I went with this because it has a larger hard drive capacity with little difference in prices. The video of the first test was taken indoors and in low light, I saw many of the points in the table, but after setting AWB indoor and low light exposure, saw the video much better, so I tried the sport setting with 24p and the video is awesome! I put the camera on my 40 "HD LCD TV, and the colors and sharpness are awesome! One tip is to use P (Program AE) with different choices setting white balance, the LCD clear enough to make a quick decision on the fly to make it selection, I used three different configurations walk in the light of day, and then in a shady area, so inside a store. One thing to note that the battery works only two hours, Canon better battery provides up to 4 hours prices by $ 100 You should also read the pros and cons of the video codec, there are a lot of information on the Canon HG10 and very critical useful. Generally, the higher the bit rate and frame rate, the longer it takes to process and edit video and burn more to make it to DVD or BluRay. In fact, I discovered that Google Picasa 3 application (free download) can open the videos recorded by the camera, this tool can export any video (or parts thereof) in wmv format, if you can the exported file, use any video editor like Microsoft Movie Maker to compress the file or change to help DivX, etc. 121 of 122 people found this review. A mistake, but it's pretty good. John R. Macdonald camera. The biggest deficiency is not the 60GB that is larger than you'll ever need, or the menu interface that is easy, intuitive and easy to use, the biggest flaw is the lack of viewfinder on this camera, big deal it says it has a modern screen instead of a viewfinder, but the modern screen really bright sunlight washes out a little (like all the screens do) and can lead to adjust the settings or the strength to trust your automatic exposure when you take them invaluable open shots. HG-21, the viewfinder eyepiece is a reliable indicator of what you shoot in these conditions but the extra 300 dollars in cash prizes is hard to justify. AF is super in this camera without periods distiguishable "out of focus" when you zoom in and out quickly. The set of AV jacks or yellow head, is a must have. Always remember tons of material and find that the only thing you hear is the wind buffetting the microphone? Registration Regular use of iPod-style headphones and not have to review the images to find out if you have the vaccine has a video camera without a microphone input, this camera has. Excellent simultaneous video recording and photography to normal size SD card, cool and works very well. Requires Class 4 SD card, type faster. I think the HG21 with 120 GB is plenty of storage space, but it is steep and takes longer to clean a hard drive full of HG20 60 GB, but both have a function for quick cleaning the hard drive. Finally, do not expect a lot of software packages, if you really want to edit. Corel Pro X2 works great for AVCHD. The latter is the battery. It is charged when the camera is in Pugg and works very well. I made was thinking that this camera is useless without an external charger and tons of extra batteries, which is not true that 95 minutes can be good or just put into the wall. As a guy who usually struggles with technology, I hope all of my "research" helps one another, and as owner of the HG20 delivers this camera and is easy for anyone to use. 58 out of 60 people found the following review helpful. Canon Exclusive: 1/2.6" 8.59 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Image SensorThe VIXIA HF S11 captures 1920 x 1080 high definition video through its Canon designed and manufactured 1/2.6" 8.59 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Image Sensor, similar to the CMOS image sensors in Canon's EOS Series Digital SLR cameras. The VIXIA HF S11's powerful CMOS image sensor provides high color resolution and advanced color reproduction for brilliant results. It is also unique in featuring Canon's proprietary noise reduction technologies for crisp, sharp images. Low noise technology also means that even in dimly lit scenes, the signal from each pixel is as pure as possible, with minimal noise or other aberrations. It's the ideal sensor for HD.The VIXIA HF S11 uses an RGB Primary Color Filter with Bayer Placement Pattern that separates light into red, green and blue color components. This results in vibrant images with deep, rich, accurate color and natural-looking tones similar to what you'd obtain from 3CCD camcorders. As an added benefit, the CMOS sensor provides outstanding image capture in low light conditions.Canon Exclusive: DIGIC DV III Image Processor DIGIC DVIII is Canon's most advanced HD image processor ever, helping to deliver enhanced image quality, true color production for both video and photos, and a sophisticated noise reduction system for exceptional low light performance. It is also the high-speed engine which powers a variety of new Canon technologies including the 8.0 Megapixel photo capture, Genuine Canon Face Detection, an Advanced Auto Exposure system and Simultaneous Photo Recording.Plus, the Canon DIGIC DV III Image Processor allows continuous shooting of digital photos with the VIXIA HF S11. You can also enjoy faster processing of your images to your memory card (1.4x normal card; 2.5x Hi-Speed card). In addition, it helps lower power consumption for longer battery life.1920 x 1080 Full HD RecordingThe Canon VIXIA HF S11 not only captures images in Full HD, but records and outputs at 1920 x 108 as well, so you get Full HD from lens to screen. Your memories are preserved in stunning clarity, and ready for playback on your HDTV. With the advanced codec in the VIXIA HF S11, you can also record at the highest AVCHD bit rate of 24Mbps.Canon Exclusive: Dynamic SuperRange Optical Image StabilizationCanon's optical excellence has long been enhanced by our sophisticated optical image stabilization technology. The high-resolution images of high definition video demand a steady hand, and we've taken it to a new level with the VIXIA HF S11's Dynamic SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization. Dynamic SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization provides continuous adjustment throughout the entire zoom range to correct a broader range of motion. In comparison to SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization, extra compensation is applied at wide-angle focal lengths to eliminate unwanted vibration common when walking. While some image stabilization systems correct one type of camera motion or vibration better than another, Canon's Dynamic SuperRange OIS corrects a variety of camcorder motions: the fast vibration you'd experience while recording from a moving car; the medium-speed motion of hand-held recording; and the slower motion of body sway. No matter what you're recording and how you're recording it, the VIXIA HF S11's stabilization design corrects camcorder shake instantly. In addition, optical image stabilization keeps your shot steady without a loss in image quality - something that can't be said for electronic image stabilization. And image stabilization isn't just for video; you can even use it for taking sharper, clearer digital photographs with your VIXIA HF S11. Thanks to Canon's expertise, it's easy to eliminate one of the telltale signs of amateur video and photography.Canon Exclusive: Instant AF (Auto Focus)Another critical objective when shooting in high definition is achieving a very sharp focus. The VIXIA HF S11 camcorder features Canon's revolutionary Instant AF focusing system which offers a dramatic improvement in auto focus speed and accuracy (compared to traditional auto focus systems). The Instant AF feature uses an external sensor, in combination with Canon's auto focus system, to help significantly decrease the time it takes to find focus, even in low light conditions. This system achieves focus instantaneously, reducing focus "hunting." The benefits of Instant AF are especially seen in high brightness and night shooting situations. With Instant AF, it's possible to capture fast, accurate focusing, even when following a moving subject. And because a properly focused subject is more critical than ever with HD, the VIXIA HF S11 also features Focus Assist. This helps in capturing your subject in razor sharp focus. It works by providing a 2x magnification of your subject (when you start recording, this assistance is automatically cancelled). This is a feature normally found in professional broadcast-quality cameras. Another sophisticated control available on the VIXIA HF S11 is color peaking, which enhances the edges of your subject to aid in focusing.Canon Exclusive: Genuine Canon Face DetectionThe same high quality Face Detection technology used in Canon digital cameras is now available in Canon high definition camcorders. Up to 35 faces can be tracked automatically, ensuring razor-sharp focus and natural, accurate exposure. Of the faces tracked, 9 detection frames can be displayed at one time. The system is in fact so intelligent that it will recognize faces that are turned downwards or sideways. In addition, a specific face may be selected as the main subject for continuous tracking. This feature can be used to search for clips featuring that specific subject's face. In search and playback, use of the Face Index will display frames with the chosen face as a thumbnail in each shot in which it appears. The selected face can be linked as a time line to further identify footage containing that subject.Advanced Auto Exposure SystemThe VIXIA HF S11 has an Advanced AE System inspired by Canon's EOS DSLR cameras. It's designed to provide the most accurate exposure settings in a wide variety of lighting conditions. This enhanced Auto Exposure system, together with Face Detection and DIGIC DV III, captures an expanded dynamic range, optimizing brightness to avoid overexposure, while still preserving important shadow detail. Some include: saturation of face tones in dark situations correction of backlighting correction of overlit (blowout) and underlit (black level correction) 24Mbps RecordingThe 24Mbps recording capability of the VIXIA HF S11 gives you the highest quality AVCHD video possible. You'll see enhanced detail, finer gradations of tones and improved reproduction of moving subjects. Video shot by the VIXIA HF S11 of fast-moving sporting events, multicolored butterflies on a variegated leaf or the shading of a brilliant sunset will be remarkable. 24p Cinema Mode24p Cinema Mode enables all aspiring moviemakers to achieve a professional "film-look." You can change the camcorder's frame capture rate to 24p (recorded at 60i), which provides the appearance of the same frame rate as movie film. In addition, you can use the VIXIA HF S11's CINEMA setting, which changes the color and tonal characteristics, evoking the look and feel of a movie shown in a theater. For added flexibility, these settings can be used together or independently.30p Progressive ModeYou would normally have to look to professional video cameras in order to have this sophisticated tool at your command. In addition to the standard interlaced video frame rate of 60i, you may choose to set the VIXIA HF S11 to capture video in 30p, (30 progressive frames, recorded to 60i) which is particularly useful for footage to be used on the Internet. In addition, this setting gives enhanced quality to still images captured after recording. It's also excellent for action shots and sports.Built-in 8.0 Megapixel Digital CameraThe VIXIA HF S11 is not only a superb camcorder but also a brilliant 8.0 Megapixel Digital Camera delivering stunning quality still photos. With many advanced photo features rivaling other state-of-the-art digital cameras, you get the best in both video and photos. An example? The VIXIA HF S11 boastsSimultaneous Photo Shooting, allowing you to capture crisp 6.0 Megapixel photos and video at the same time. The same Canon exclusive CMOS image sensor that ensures sharp, vivid HD video also gives you brilliant digital photographs. Like the CMOS image sensors in Canon's EOS Series digital SLR cameras, the VIXIA HF S11's image sensor results in outstanding digital photographs. It gives an impressive resolution of 8.0 Megapixels for sharp, crisp still images.Canon DIGIC DV III Image ProcessorCanon's exclusive DIGIC DV III Image Processor features improved continuous shooting of digital photographs with the VIXIA HF S11. You can also enjoy faster processing of your images to your memory card (1.4x normal card; 2.5x Hi-Speed card).Focus FeaturesAuto Intelligent Auto Focus (AiAF) ensures sharp images and gives creative flexibility. Even when your subject isn't in the center of the frame, the VIXIA HF S11's 9 Point AiAF will automatically select from 9 metering frames on the screen to help bring images into sharp focus.Auto Exposure ModesLike any good digital still camera, the VIXIA HF S11 lets you choose from a range of exposure modes. Auto mode automatically sets the exposure, letting you concentrate on your subject. AV (aperture priority) mode lets you control the depth of field by letting you choose the aperture. TV (shutter priority) mode lets you select the shutter speed for sharp, action shots. In P (program) mode, the camcorder adjusts camera settings automatically.Program AE ModeYour life happens everywhere, so the VIXIA HF S11 gives you settings that automatically result in the best exposure settings for different conditions and different subjects.Portrait mode ensures shallow depth of field for a pleasing background in your shots of friends and family. Sports mode stops the action with faster shutter speeds. Low Light Mode is designed to give you great shots after the sun goes down. Snow and Beach modes compensate for bright surroundings and give you the proper exposure on your subject. Sunset mode results in vibrant, well-exposed colors for one of the toughest subjects to capture properly. Use Spotlight mode when your child is on stage and in the spotlight - literally - and you want to make sure the exposure is right for them. Fireworks mode records brilliant images of another tough subject - the holiday fireworks display. Night Scene Mode reduces video "noise" and helps to prevent overexposure of artificial lighting from buildings and streetlamps while shooting outdoors in the dark.Selectable Metering PatternsFor optimal exposure, the VIXIA HF S11 offers selectable metering patterns. You can choose the options of Evaluative, which in normal shooting conditions will measure the light in all areas of the subject image, Center-Weighted Average, which gives greater importance to the object in the center of the image, and Spot, which adjusts the exposure exactly to the object in the center of the image.Auto Exposure BracketingIn challenging lighting situations, such as strong backlight, a dark background or a very sunny or snowy day, it can be tricky to get the right exposure for a photo. The AE Bracketing feature of the VIXIA HF S11 automatically takes three versions of the shot, with 'dark,' 'normal' and 'light' settings in ½ exposure steps so you may choose the one that best suits you.Continuous ShootingThe VIXIA HF S11 can capture a rapid succession of photos, just like the motor drive on a still camera. Shoot up to 3 frames per second in the Continuous Mode, or a blazing 5 frames per second in the High Speed Continuous Mode. Customer Reviews more useful 79 of 80 people found this review helpful. Not a professional, the guardian of the memory hungry, but simply from the dream, I do months of research before deciding on the S11, and my priority was exceptional image quality and durability. Because flash cameras have no moving parts like a hard drive, flash memory is less susceptible to damage, consumes less energy and reads / writes faster. It 'very expensive but will last for many years while capturing my most highly significant with their families. HD is the way to go. The picture quality is great, and you can easily find examples in preview HD on YouTube, if you're curious to see how this measure in place. Video capture at night is not as bad as what I had read. I can easily make images in my shots at night, although some details have been lost (as expected with a consumer camcorder). A big advantage is that I can take pictures in the video mode, so I did not pack my camera for point-and-shoots as well. This has an integrated 8 megapixel camera if you need more than 64 GB of internal memory expandable with the purchase of an external SDHC card. Canon says to use a minimum Class 4 SDHC card for video, but a lot of people who own video cameras seem to have better results with Flash Class 6 cards (write speed faster than it would mean so many pictures during recording). Remember that 64 GB can capture at least 5 hours and 55 minutes MXP mode and up to 24 hours and 30 minutes in LP mode. There is no electronic viewfinder can be a problem when the screen is hard to see when you are super super bright or dark environments. Unfortunately, your investment does not end with the camera. You'll have to buy stuff EXTRA: * Extra battery - one that lasts 1.5 is included 5 hours at best, I recommend the Canon BP-827 Lithium Ion Battery Pack * for the Vixia HG 20/21, 100 camcorder and HF11/10 * Battery charger - otherwise you can only charge the battery while in the camera so that you have to stop filming while charging * HDMI cable * Remote Adapter RA Canon Vixia HF-V1 for S11 camcorder functions to access the camera, if you use a heavy tripod * Video editing software - Adobe Premiere seem to be very popular for AVCHD video I travel often, so it's not always practical for me to wear a lot of SDHC cards, and I wanted something that would be more user friendly for my people to use. It is strange that Canon charges more for 32GB of memory on the S10 so if the budget is a problem, look in the HF S10 (32 GB internal memory) or HF S100 (no internal memory). The S11 is very similar to the HF and HF S10 S100 models. The differences can only say: - the internal memory of 64 GB (the main reason for this model costs more) - Dynamic SuperRange OIS (which is supposed better quality video while walking and wide angle) - Compatible Canon RA-V1 remote adapter that connect to the accessory shoe to provide a LANC (wired remote) terminal - Extra Scene mode under the light 41 of 42 people found this review helpful a worthy competitor in the prosumer camcorder market by L. ve Wong 'used quite a few cameras, including a professional shoulder mount camcorder model standard definition I paid the price of a small car, and this camcorder is great, even compared to this. So far, I've never been impressed with the performance of the consumer or prosumer video camera because I have long been used to make my professional video camera used to shoot weddings. Make no mistake, HF S11 Canon camcorder is not perfect. But its price is a steal. I will not praise without end, as many critics (including professional evaluators) in fact I will first go on the negative aspects. One of his biggest problems is the audio quality of the microphones. I rolled my eyes when a critical videographer magazine said that the noise of something in order had the effect of "loud and clear." It is not there an almost complete lack of bass.

Switchable HD/DV format recording The HDR-HC7 is capable of recording and playing back both High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) video recorded on a standard MiniDV cassette. Real-Time HD Codec engine Sony developed a Real Time MPEG Encode/Decode system with reduced energy consumption and compact size to fit inside a personal camcorder. Client more useful in 86 of 90 people found this review helpful. Excellent for amateur like me-much like an upgraded HC90 By Thomas Gull This just arrived Thursday so these comments are the least time on camera until now. They are also something of a user of amateur cameras, so it will not be able to comment on quality of manual controls, etc. I agree closely with the other two reviews, so I will not repeat their details . I will try to hit some other topics and also compare the HC7 Sony HC90, an earlier model that took 16:09 standard definition video with 3 MP stills. I took about an hour of HD video up to now and has seen through an HDMI cable on a Sony 46 "XBR LCD TV (1080p). I caught a few indoor scenes, a scene a couple of outdoor areas and some movies Harpers Ferry in West Virginia - river, mountain, and two trains passing close by, while I was at the train station there. I can comfortably say that will not confuse the video from the camcorder with standard definition video camera - when they say high definition, not a joke if your TV can display video from management and has grown fond of the HD, I think it would be satisfied with the this camcorder. In my case it was the overwhelming reason I upgraded to get the video camera high definition video, so it has been very worth the cost. My second requirement is to have a video camera is decent still images, so you just have to take a piece of equipment at all. I was already here in the Sony HC90 at 3 megapixels, so it is up to 6 MP was desirable, but not enough to get me to buy something as expensive in itself. My criticism output only to the extent that the images are from West Virginia looks a little brighter and the water a little greener than I remember. Do not play with the settings to take it with a grain of salt. These cameras have a lot of manual adjustments you can do that I have not explored. One or more of them would undoubtedly have enhanced images, and I am not dissatisfied with what I think I noticed in all the stills very well for me so far, but I only needed about 20 and viewed on the TV. Usually I show photos on a PC. I do not have a telephoto lens yet so I can not report on the quality of stabilization. I used a tripod today, and that was in the stability of the video-evident. I was very impressed by the way happy with how the camera is moving with the trains. Very crispy, which I expected a fair bit of motion blur. LCD screen size and controls were first documented in the looks. I'm perfectly happy with a 2.7 "LCD instead of the largest in the UX7. So it was not negative for me personally. The commands (menus) are very similar to the Sony HC90 I already have. If you have not seen, are there is a learning curve. If the HC90 or another camcorder with these menus have to be comfortable with you the HC7. A note: You can set P [PERSONAL] menus to the things you use most often in their own order, and the camera's one thing I forgot is that every function (video camera, play / edit) her personal menu to configure to take. So I was looking for things to add to the Play / Edit menu folks I was sure to be configured, but could not find them. This is because they were only following the shooting, not for playing side. So you have three menus you can create personal, not one. Battery: The battery monitor sizes. The HC90 batteries were fine. I think three of the batteries for the HC7 is fully within your business. The battery room, and most were much larger in one dimension such that I thought it would extend past the end of the camera 1 / 2 "or so. The other three are embedded in the back of the camera, although they not behind a door or whatever. Battery life: my impression so far is that statements of battery life are accurate, but the batteries drain faster than the HC90 This is almost.

Our Sony TRV19 video camera does not record anymore, so we have a new JVC Everio HD camcorder HM200, but needed to transfer video from Sony MiniDV tapes to your computer. This process only works with this type of cable, not USB. I'm halfway through the transfer of bands right now works perfectly. Set the camera to VCR (for playback) and iMovie 09 found set rewinds the tape for you and everything imports fine. This cable saves 10 hours of memories for us. I knew I wanted MiniDV allow maximum flexibility and compatibility with editing software. I searched the internet for comments and decided to have a Canon Elura 100, as was widely considered the best "budget" digital video camera. Of course, I decided that as stocks last longer - no longer have the Canon Elura line. So I met with the start from scratch as the principal had just released new cameras. I've used Canon SLRs for years and, therefore, naturally inclined to the Z series camcorders come not very good reviews, however. Then I saw the Panasonic PV-GS85 and grabbed immediately by the fact that it has OIS - optical image stabilizer. It uses an optical component effective to shake hands, unlike electronic jiggery-pokery with the other cameras in this price, I've used both Canon and Panasonic at an electronics store and the difference between the effectiveness of OIS and EIS is fantastic - optical image stabilization stabilization is just leaps and bounds better. This is what sold me on the Panasonic. I went to GS85 GS80 to add snapshot function - it will take still images on memory card while shooting video. The quality is not great but not terrible either, and is perfect for capturing still images of these magical moments to send to relatives if you happen to be in the middle of shooting. I do not use Windows so I can not comment on the included software, but the camera works perfectly with iMovie on my MacBook Pro and Cinema on Linux. The video quality is very good, the color rendition so far proved excellent. The automatic white balance takes a little 'time to adjust after turning the camera (maybe 20-30s), so you must be a little' before the game is very fast, even without the option of Quick Start, where the camera "goes to sleep" when you close the LCD screen rather than combined. In a large single device. 36 of 36 people found this review helpful. Easy to use, great image stabilization, instant on the fly by John BI was trying to buy this Sony camera or the like. I'm so glad I went with the PV-GS85. The optical image stabilization is the key! This little piece of technology keeps the videos pretty stable, even when it is enlarged so the SD card slot is a hidden gem. It 'so easy to press the button for instant recording and a bit' large (albeit at low resolution 640x480) shots during recording. The only drawback is that you can not record in low light, like Sony can. PV-GS85 has the ability to see infrared, and Sony gets a day will probably be upset about not having this feature, but has not been a problem yet. In general, optical image stabilization much larger than NightShot technology ... whether to restore the Blair Witch or something! 32 of 32 people found this review helpful. Nice and easy X_HOBBES After much research and reading many reviews, especially here (thanks to all the excellent reviews), I chose to get the Panasonic PV-GS85 Canon ZR850 for the following reasons: - Noise Complaint motor in the Canon - Panasonic Optical Image Stabilizer - Panasonic incorporated in the light (it seems that the LED technology) Now that I have the camera and had the opportunity to play with it a bit, here is my opinion ... PRO: - A bit small (not the least, but not great by any means) - Smooth zoom (analog or has many small increments of speed) - Optical Image Stabilization - Built-in light - SD card slot for photos (although I not not want to use it) - Color screen CON: - Hand strap mounted very low and let the camera run away from fingers - Charger power heavy-gauge hard

The best feedback from customers 133 of 134 people found this review helpful. Can it get any better? By Mark A. Family Garlitz Open box, I was surprised FS10! Fits in the palm of your hand (the size of a soda can) and feels like a finely designed equipment. I started to record video from two minutes later! Let us refrain from technical jargon and go directly to picture quality ... awesome! I recorded the video in my shop and was immediately impressed by how well the camera compensates for the light shining through my window. A quick look around and wonder "how is it to focus so quickly?" The focus is immediate and accurate. Now really cool thing - when you exit zoom mode, you can concentrate on the hair of a fly! Well, I was a fly, but literally could reach 1 / 2 "of an object and still have the immediate focus. How do they do? Not create the macro approach, which works like the human eye. OK, what prompted the zoom. Well, we had a Comcast guy working on a telephone pole about 200 'from my office I filmed from my window. The camera had no problem focusing, and anti-shake feature of the camera seemed incredible. I've seen other anti-shake blur as the camera and not digital, which have arisen. The FS10 has somehow eliminated the blurring. I actually zoom tool on the tape of the boy, and Comcast could read the label! It is no exaggeration. OK, now for the real test ... transferred to the video on my computer. Previously, I hooked my audio / video cables up to my video capture card and then passed through a long process of capturing and then cover stuff and then put the video on DVD. With the FS10, I loaded the software, connect the USB cable, selected my video thumbnail explorer from one type of program, and 1 minute later I was watching videos with Windows Media Player. MPEG is the file directly from the camcorder! Remember that this camcorder without a tape, so you really do is transfer a file from the camcorder to your hard drive to burn a DVD from it becomes a no brainer. What else? Well, no moving parts to wear out. Yes, you have a zoom, but that was it. I think the zoom button had a cheap feel, but not bad. One last thing. I have recorded on video in a lit room dimmly last night. The picture is grainy. Not really impressed with it, but maybe there is a setting for low light conditions. I clicked on the video light and it helped a lot. Canon uses an LED light - so minimal battery consumption when using candles. All in all! Very impressive 67 of 67 people found the following review helpful. I'm impressed! By Danny radically Let me first say that I spent 2 weeks researching camcorders before buying it. Many mixed reviews on many different websites. What sold me was the fact that there are no tapes, DVDs, or other wear mechanisms, in addition to the zoom No moving parts means that the batteries last longer. The microphone is a great advantage, in addition to being compact. Upon arrival I was amazed by the size and weight. After trying it, there were some negative aspects that could be solved. 1.The biggy 'for me was not the aim threads for adding filters and effects to keep the fog and dust from the lens during filming. I found a couple of universal adapters, but the lenses were too large for the context of small cameras. I decided to try something. The axis of the lens measured 34 mm so I found a 34 mm to 37mm step ring of silver metal on eBay for $ 2. Now I used hot glue on the threads of the walking ring and quickly placed in the Canon. They fit perfectly and looks as if it were still there and if you want to remove it, because, who knows, the glue will just remove the barrel without leaving marks. Now I can attach a UV filter, wide angle lens .. etc. 2. No hot shoe. Ebay again ... found a cold shoe handle that attaches to the camera and gives me a place to LED Spotlight and an external microphone ... costs less than $ 15 3. $ 80 for a replacement.

Amazon.com Product Description The AG-DVC30's Leica Dicomar 16x optical zoom lens answers a broad range of shooting needs, delivering superb results from 39.5mm wide angle all the way to 632mm telephoto (both 35mm lens equivalents). In wide-angle performance--critical in broadcast and other professional applications--this lens is top of its class. Behind this outstanding performance are the advanced optical technologies and expertise that have made Leica Camera AG one of the most respected names in the camera world. The Leica Dicomar lens is first in its class in wide-angle performance. This new 16x optical zoom lens system uses low-dispersion glass and aspherical lenses to reduce color aberration and boost resolution. Use of a special multicoating process dramatically reduces flare and ghosts. The result: sharp, crisp, beautifully rendered pictures with vivid colors, delicate nuances, and exceptional shading. The advanced OIS system eliminates image blur caused by natural hand-shake. Optical Image Stabilizer Compensates for Natural Hand-Shake The AG-DVC30's advanced Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) compensates for hand shaking that occurs as you shoot. A gyrosensor detects hand-shake and sends signals to a linear motor, which adjusts the lens to compensate. Because this process takes place prior to the CCD image capture (rather than in the downstream electronic processing), it virtually eliminates any effect of hand-shake on resolution and screen angle. The OIS can also be helpful when zooming or shooting in dim lighting. 1/4-Inch, 410,000-Pixel 3CCD Image System: High Sensitivity, Low Noise To ensure a level of picture quality suitable for professionals, the AG-DVC30 uses a 3CCD image system that delivers the highest sensitivity in its class. Its high S/N ratio and extremely low noise (in darker areas of a picture) combines with high sensitivity to deliver excellent image quality even when shooting indoors under dim lighting. When shooting in sunlight or under bright spotlights, this 3CCD system offers low smear. The AG-DVC30's 3CCD image system delivers high signal-to-noise ratio and excellent image quality. 12-bit A/D and RGB Gamma Processor The AG-DVC30 features an A/D converter that uses the same 12-bit processing as broadcast-quality camera-recorders. This, combined with an RGB gamma processor that uses Panasonic's unique gamma-curve function, helps assure high image-quality processing. In fact, the AG-DVC30's A/D converter and RGB gamma processor are the same ones used in the popular AG-DVX100A, which has won acclaim as the industry's highest-image-quality DV camera. Movie-Simulation Mode The AG-DVC30 can capture and reproduce images that are strikingly similar in tone to film images, thanks to Panasonic's unique Cine-Like gamma curve and a 30-frames-per-second recording function that electronically interpolates interlaced images to create frames with no time differences between fields. Settings for this mode are preset in the Movie-Like scene file. High-Sensitivity Slow Shutter The slow shutter function uses image accumulation to allow shutter speeds with frame rates reduced by half or more. The accumulation method provides bright-color images with less noise than those captured using conventional gain-up, so you get the higher sensitivity needed for nighttime shooting without illumination. The slow shutter function can also be used to obtain movie-like effects. 16:9 Widescreen Recording The aspect ratio can be set to either 4:3 or 16:9 to accommodate wide-image recording. In 16:9 recording, you can select either letterbox or squeeze mode, giving you more possibilities in downstream editing and playback. An image shot using Zero Lux IR mode and featuring the date/time display. Zero Lux IR Mode: Super Nighttime Shooting System The AG-DVC30 is the world's first 3CCD camcorder to offer black-and-white recording in the dark using infrared light. This featre opens the door to a host of new possibilities in nighttime monitoring, surveillance, and news gathering. The built-in infrared light makes it possible to record at a distance of about 16 feet. Professional Audio Quality with XLR Mic (Optional) The AG-DVC30 comes equipped with a built-in stereo microphone. Adding the optional AG-MYA30G XLR adapter provides you with +48 V phantom mic and line input needed for news gathering. Featuring two XLR audio input terminals and level controls, the adapter lets you independently switch channel 1 or channel 2 to mic or line input, with each having its own "glow in the dark" level adjustment. Audio Level Meters Two color audio level meters can be displayed in the viewfinder and LCD monitor, making it easy to check the signal as you record. Full Auto or Manual Shooting Use the AG-DVC30 for either full auto or manual shooting. The Auto/Manual switch turns the four auto functions--focus, shutter speed, iris and gain, and white balance--on and off as desired. Manual focusing is controlled by the large focus ring. You can also switch between manual and auto focus by pushing the Focus button. For added convenience, one of the user buttons can be assigned to turn autofocus on and off. 3.5-inch Color LCD Monitor and Tilt-Up Viewfinder The large 3.5-inch color LCD monitor rotates 270 degrees, making it easy to shoot at difficult angles, and the Mirror mode makes it easy to record yourself. The display is bright, too, so even outdoors you get good visibility when using the LCD to monitor footage or to select settings from the menu. For added ease of use when taking low-angle shots, you also can tilt the viewfinder 70 degrees upward. Magnesium Alloy Chassis Designed for professionals, the AG-DVC30 boasts the same tough magnesium alloy diecast chassis as do the DVCPRO broadcast models. This rigid casing protects the high-precision components from bumps and jolts, helps shield out interface, and provides the AG-DVC30 with the reliability and durability needed for active field use. Automatic Head Cleaning The AG-DVC30 provides the same head-cleaning function as do the DVCPRO models. The white roller pad positioned to the right of the head cylinder cleans the head each time you load a tape, helping to minimize dropouts and head clogging. IEEE 1394 Terminal with Synchro Lock An IEEE 1394-compliant 4-pin DV terminal makes it easy to upload data from the AG-DVC30 or to dub footage onto a DV recorder. This terminal also features a new synchro lock function that lets you use the AG-DVC30 to remotely start and stop an external DV device. Three recording modes help protect against mistakes: record onto external recorder only, record onto both AG-DVC30 and external recorder, and begin external recording when the AG-DVC30 tape ends. Versatile Performance Total mobility? Easy carrying? Or advanced audio specs? With the multistyle handle, the choice is yours. Designed with the professional in mind, the AG-DVC30 introduces a new detachable handle that adds versatility by letting you use this compact DV camera three different ways. Style 1: With handle detached, this super-compact 3CCD camera fits easily into a bag or pack for highest mobility. Style 2: With handle in place, the AG-DVC30 is easy to carry and easy to use, even when shooting at difficult angles. Style 3: With the optional XLR adapter mounted on the handle, the AG-DVC30 has outstanding audio specs, plus the ability to add two external phantom mics or line inputs with "glow in the dark" level controls. MiniDV Format The MiniDV format offers more precise image detail and color accuracy than was previously possible with analog camcorders. The superior quality of digital video results from: Higher resolution: Up to 530 lines of horizontal resolution on select models for sharper picture detail Component color sampling: Preserves three times more color information than does analog VHS or S-VHS video, for brighter and truer colors Time base correction: Stabilizes the picture, eliminating video jitters Error correction: Fills in missing video data, providing seamless, professional-looking video What's in the Box Camera, handle, lens hood, lens cap, shoulder strap, AC cord, AV cables, DC cord, battery, AC adapter, large eye cup, wireless remote control unit, Master Series tape. Small but robust - excellent low light by Richard Brennan This is a great camera for the wedding videographer or other serious amateur or semi-professionals. It is well built, has great manual control, and has super video and good performance in low light. You may want external microphone attachment that allows the use of professional microphones without additional adapters and signal processors. Now that the price is well below $ 2000, is a good deal. One caveat: When recording in 16:9 format, this is not the best option. The Panasonic GS400 handles much better and at a lower price. (However, the GS400 does not have the chops a little light DVC-30 is - you have to set your priorities.) ) Advantages: * Very good performance low-light conditions * Rugged, is metal integrated body microphones work (with optional accessory) * Incredible B & W, without the ability of an infrared interface (short range into the camera, medium-range light add- on infrared light increases to hundreds of meters) * Excellent manual control is available through the menu and you can store your favorite settings to four programmable buttons put on the body of the device for convenience. * No attachments, the body with built-in microphone is small and consumer-like (will not be attentive to yourself), not to mention easy. * Beautiful video with three 1/4-inch CCDs. Disadvantages: * 2100 * The Sony has better low light capacity, the 16:9 mode is not as good as the PDX10 and GS400. * Photo capacity is not sufficient. * The microphone is just average. 50 of 50 customers found this review helpful. A good camera that captures great pictures of Jimmy D. Asher Jr., a high-quality camera for the money. Simple, well built, has a "meaning well-built" for her and fits in your hand. The image detail is impressive, better than I expected. I am very impressed with the 16x zoom, image very nice and clean. Do not be fooled by the size of this device, the image quality is nice. Many camera in a small package. It has 4 built in settings for different shooting situations. It 'an optional low-light level that does a decent job of capturing the scene after dark. I gave it 4 stars because I did not like the manual that came with it and the manual control of aperture and focus would be easier to access and use. The internal microphone is not really wanted to pick up the audio well. I recommend an external microphone or pick up a draw to supplant the micro microphone as per your request. If you need a FireWire cable to download the video to your computer make sure you choose one of those up as well. The camera's FireWire port is a 4-pin FireWire connector 25 of 25 people found this review helpful. Good camera by Kevin F. Muster While Sony VX2100 does better in low light, this camera has its own good. For the price, it is impossible to overcome. Great picture quality, 3.5-inch LCD and solid build quality. Most cameras in this series is still plastic, but the magnesium alloy in the AG-DVC30 is sturdy and feels good. I've been using it for regular shooting of the family and shooting touch. So many options for manual configuration. I can not say enough. Here is a good forum for it. http://www.camcorderinfo.com/bbs/f131 See all 13 reviews ....
