He promises a camera with full HD resolution and outstanding features at an affordable price. In many ways offers. The video quality is better than the JVC HDV camera. Unlike the JVC, the camera offers full manual control and a joy to shoot with professionally. Alas - for someone who expects and needs full HD resolution, Sony is a disappointment. Point the camera with a resolution chart while viewing the output in a high resolution monitor (or a computer after rendering to 1080i or 1080p) quickly shows that the horizontal resolution is about 1200 lines of vertical resolution and is just over 500. The number of pixels is about twice that of standard video not four times, as we might hope. The 1200 lines of horizontal resolution is very good - almost the same as 720p. But the vertical resolution is not very good at all A little 'tells the story of mathematics. Sony advertizes 1.1 million pixels for each sensor and 1440 horizontal lines. 1.1M/1440 gives a maximum of 770 vertical lines, not 1080 as promised. The resolution measured in horizontal and vertical is much lower. An extensive web search revealed that the sensor has 1080 vertical lines, but only about 990 horizontal lines. To get something closer to 1440 horizontal lines of the green sensor is offset by half a pixel, and image processing is used to give a maximum resolution of 1440 can be a black and white. The problem is that the edges of contrast more than 900 horizontal lines is rather poor. To make matters worse, (or to degrade the vertical resolution to match the horizontal), vertical lines in the sensor are read in pairs, so that each field is a mixture of two adjacent lines. This gives the contrast even in poor vertically or horizontally. One of the main problems is interlaced. Most editors (and most screens) deinterlace in media, which reduces the maximum vertical resolution of 540 lines. You can add Mike Crash excellent Deinterlace to mask sharpening, and removing this limitation. Deinterlacing Intelligent Crash Vegas can be downloaded for free - with patience and perseverance. Sharpening and deinterlacing the image is very processor intensive. I took a good part of a week to conduct a two-hour movie on a 3 GHz Pentium 4 But the results can be surprising. With its emphasis on the Sony camera can give you a result that is close to a professional HD camera I give WMV9 instead of MPEG2 - remember to keep the properties in 1440x1080. After rendering is completed, you can re-render to 720p, adding an additional bit of sharpening to compensate for the re-interpolation. For best results, always use a shutter speed of 60 frames / sec or more. I had mixed results with the Steady Shot option. Keep using the camera as still as possible and try not to video in order to earn more than necessary. Bottom line - this camera produces video that is much better than standard video, and significantly better than DV. The camera integrates a huge amount of intelligent functions that ensure the quality of your video experience. - Image stabilizer - light sensitivity sensor, - profiles - variable zoom speeds, - remaining battery status info, - alignment markers on the screen - features intelligent playback (slow motion, freeze frame-stepping, etc.) on top of the video cameras body weight with 380gr. and the size of your drink selection is probably acceptable even for ladies or kids hands. The HF11 with a team of usability years in terms of inconsistency occurs, bugs, etc. (see my manual for details), but apart from that the HF11 is the intuitive navigation and just as the digital camera products. So it was not a stumbling block for us. Most users are able to use the product in minutes, ready to go! But I used a series of live events and concerts to shoot, and with a DVX100 and a DVC80 to choose from, this camera would always remain in the stabbing shot of a lower priority. It's great, but mostly hollow, so it's almost as light as a Canon ZR series. In sunlight or bright light, you're right, but in low light you really know a camera is a CCD. The colors and the image is noisy washing. For one third of the price you might have a consumer level camera (Canon ZR) I will also shoot (and not look as imposing) if you want money for a 3-CCD models. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. It was half the price (maybe less) than competitive products, and has all the features I needed. This camera is an excellent mid-price. The quality is good and I use it to blogs and upload video directly to YouTube. Until now I had absolutely no problem, and while to upload the video quality is not as high as most camcorders in the range of 200-300 dollars, which is perfect for on-the-go and shoot photos without a headache from a complicated learning curve.
