Great image, poor "feel" in the hands of Robert Cozzi I have high-end Prosumer camera used in a while, and nearly every other generation of video since 1980. I've used a Sony HC3 HDV handheld was recently however, that my daughter if I have the HV30. The HV30 has a great picture and all that. So I think I'll focus on what either really cool or a little icky for a buyer. Really Cool: Video quality is the best find on today's single-chip HDV camera. Some 3-chip cameras have better color depth but many 3-chip cameras actually have a worse picture. You did a great job. He plays other Canon HDV tape. I own and use a Canon XH A1 3-CCD HDV camcorder and the HV30 plays its tapes even better than the XHA1 seems. It is good because I A1 courage can save up for a few years. It has virtually every output port for you (now) can only wish. HDMI, Component (Component yes!), Composite, USB, Firewire and its complete. He has worked with Apple Final Cut Pro without problems. I can not even XHA1 him to work with it without screwing around with it for a while '. It has a microphone input jack, which podcasters love, but I and others had problems with it. I believe that Canon has not done a single microphone jack, but a sort of microphone with phantom power this or that, that really would not use amateur. So, to make it work, and this is just the tip, to access the menu and activate an option, then access a different menu and adjust the gain and / or volume. Oops, maybe it should be a factor "not so cool." Not so cool. The ergonomics are poor. My hand does not feel at ease now that no matter how I adjust the belt. I've never had this problem with another device. The start / stop record is in the wrong place. They put their "joystick" Goofy right where the thumb of a person falls while holding the camera, so you instinctively press the joystick instead of start / stop button while filming The worst part, Joystick is really crap as an element interface. Camera noise. The camera makes noise when you move it (shake it) makes noise when you zoom in and makes a lot of noise when you insert or eject a tape. Rubbish picture during filming of motion. If you shoot a scene and move the camera, you will get streaks in the image. Why? I believe / assume, because unlike the Canon digital SLR cameras with very little light, making their video equipment does not lower ISO (low light) the ability to Sony or anyone else. I do not know why, but seems to be a consistent theme with Canon. Fortunately, a built-in light useful for those birthday parties, but not much else. The baseline for under $ 800 it costs, worth if you are filming your vacation, holidays, birthdays and everything If you are a podcaster and want something with every connection known to man, is even worth it for the HDMI and microphone jack alone. You can afford the Canon XH A1 or better and want a great picture, this camera is for you. If you only want a tape drive for XH A1, it is actually cheaper than a commercial tape drive CANON HDV. Bottom bottom line is that Sony had lost its way and the Canon HV30 is the current champion career HDV handheld camcorder. I like the Sony better, but I do not get nickel and dimed to death. You buy the Canon HV30 and be happy with the results. 177 of 183 people found the following review helpful. It was a difficult decision, but I'm happy. Canon VIXIA HV30 camcorder lewko High Definition MiniDV 10x optical zoom with image stabilization that I am very happy with my Canon HV30. I rate the image quality, color quality, low-light capabilities, white balance, all excellent zoom control is a bit close for my fingers and I found myself holding the camera less fixed (ie with the tips of my fingers rather than my hand) that would be tiring on a long shot.

Flash Memory The VIXIA HF M30 allows you to record up to 3 hours of clear high definition video to an 8GB internal flash drive or to a removable SD memory card. With Relay Recording, the camcorder automatically switches video recording from the internal drive to the SD memory card when the memory becomes full. No need then to worry about running out of recording time during a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime shot. You’ll also have the flexibility of copying video from your VIXIA HF M30’s internal drive to the removable SD memory card. That makes it easy to insert the card into your computer or HDTV’s card reader and view your recorded footage immediately. The advantages of flash memory go beyond the added recording time. You'll also appreciate the quick response time, because there are no moving parts. Press the record button and your VIXIA HF M30 starts recording video faster than you've ever seen before. In addition, when you review, you'll have quick access to your footage. Another plus is the VIXIA HF M30's low power consumption rate, allowing your battery to last longer. While we certainly hope you keep your VIXIA HF M30 securely in your hand while shooting, if it happens to slip, or you accidentally knock it against something, you'll be happy to know that flash memory makes your camcorder more shock-resistant than other recording storage systems. It also minimizes the chance of data loss if there is damage to your recording media or to the moving parts found in other camcorders Stunning Image Quality A Genuine Canon 15x HD Video Lens delivers unsurpassed image quality. The Canon Exclusive 3.89-megapixel Full HD CMOS Image Sensor captures video at 1920 x 1080 resolution and photos with astonishing detail, while the Canon Exclusive DIGIC DV III Image Processor provides the ultimate in color and imaging performance, with enhanced reproduction of difficult to capture purple and blue tones. Exceptionally lifelike tone and detail are captured thanks to 24Mbps Recording, which offers the highest bit rate in AVCHD. The VIXIA HF M30 not only captures images in Full HD, but records and outputs at 1920 x 1080 as well, so you get Full HD from lens to screen. Dynamic SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization with Powered IS The VIXIA HF M30 features Canon’s proprietary Dynamic SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization which provides continuous adjustment throughout the entire zoom range to correct a broad range of motion. Extra compensation is applied at wide-angle focal lengths to eliminate unwanted shaking which is common when walking. Together with the latest development, Powered IS, you’ll find an even higher level of compensation for subtle hand movement at the telephoto end of the zoom range. Powered IS can be engaged by pressing or holding the Powered IS button on the touch panel LCD. Instant AF A critical objective when shooting in high definition is achieving the sharpest focus possible. The VIXIA HF M30 camcorder features Canon's revolutionary Instant AF focusing system which offers a dramatic improvement in auto focus speed and accuracy, compared to traditional auto focus systems. The Instant AF feature uses an external sensor, in combination with Canon's auto focus system, to help significantly decrease the time it takes to find focus, even in low light conditions. This system achieves focus instantaneously, reducing focus "hunting." This is especially beneficial in high brightness or night shooting situations. In addition, with Instant AF it's possible to capture fast, accurate focusing even when following a moving subject. To further enhance focusing capability the VIXIA HF M30 also features Focus Assist. This helps in capturing your subject in razor-sharp focus. It works by providing a 2x magnification of your subject, which is automatically cancelled when you start recording. This is a feature normally found in professional broadcast-quality cameras. 2.7" Touch Panel LCD Screen See exceptional detail with a sharp 211,000 dot screen delivering brilliant color together with touch panel control for faster and easier menu navigation. You’ll also have Touch & Track, which allows you to get precise focus and exposure on any subject - whether it’s people, vehicles, etc. by selecting your choice right on the touch panel LCD. Smart Auto Smart Auto makes shooting great video easier than ever before. Using the power of Canon’s DIGIC DV III Image Processor, the VIXIA HF M30 intelligently detects and analyzes faces, brightness, color, distance, and movement, then automatically selects the best settings for the scene. Whether you are capturing a sunset, a day at the beach, or a fast-paced soccer game, Smart Auto delivers exceptional accuracy, raising your video to the next level. Touch & Track Touch and Track delivers precise tracking of the focus and exposure on any subject- people, pets, vehicles and more. Simply select your point of interest on the Touch Panel LCD, and you will have your subject in sharp focus, regardless of where in the frame it moves during the shot – and, the exposure will be perfectly adjusted for subject and conditions. Touch & Track is the default setting. You can also choose to adjust focus or exposure independently by turning off Touch & Track, and turning on Touch Focus or Touch Exposure. Touch Focus – allows the user to pinpoint a specific area to focus on. This function is similar to the Push AF feature found in professional camcorders, but can target a subject anywhere in the frame. Touch Exposure – enables exposure to be locked or compensated for the area touched by the user. Genuine Canon Face Detection The same high quality Face Detection technology used in Canon digital cameras is available in the VIXIA HF M30 high definition camcorder. Up to 35 faces can be tracked automatically, ensuring razor-sharp focus and natural, accurate exposure. Of the faces tracked, 9 detection frames can be displayed at one time. The system is in fact so smart that it will recognize faces turned downwards or sideways. In addition, a specific face may be selected as the main subject for continuous tracking. This feature can be used to search for clips featuring that specific subject's face. In search and playback, use of the Face Index will display frames with the chosen face as a thumbnail in each shot in which it appears. The selected face can be linked as a timeline to further identify footage containing that subject. Advanced Video Snapshot Advanced Video Snapshot allows you to capture the highlights of a once-in-a-lifetime trip or a family milestone with the same ease as taking photos. Simply record a series of short video clips – or select your favorite clips while in Playback Mode – and blend in your favorite background music to create an exciting movie that will grab everyone’s attention. This version of Advanced Video Snapshot allows selectable recording time (2, 4, or 8 seconds). Additionally, audio from an external source such as an MP3 player can be played along with the Snapshot movie, and playback can be controlled from that source. Easy Web Sharing HD-to-SD Downconversion allows you to convert recorded high definition video to standard definition files while safely preserving the original HD video. These standard definition files make it even more convenient to edit, share video online, or create a DVD. The downconverted video can be transferred to your computer via traditional methods – i.e. USB connection, card slot – or wirelessly to sharing sites with an Eye-Fi SD memory card. The VIXIA HF M30 is compatible with the Eye-Fi SD Memory Card. It’s possible to wirelessly transfer your down-converted video and photos to your computer, or upload them directly to online sharing sites in a few simple steps. Insert an Eye-Fi SD Memory Card into the SD card slot on the camcorder, configure your computer to select the target (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Shutterfly, Flickr) site and you’re ready to share your standard definition files with family, friends, and the world! Canon camcorders are not guaranteed to support Eye-Fi card functions (including wireless transfer). In case of an issue with an Eye-Fi card, please check with Eye-Fi, Inc. Outside of the United States and Canada, government approval is required to use Eye-Fi cards in many countries or regions. Without approval, use of the card is not permitted. If it is unclear whether the card has been approved for use in the area, please check with Eye-Fi, Inc. 3.3-megapixel Camera Since Canon is acknowledged as a world leading maker of still image cameras, it’s not surprising that the VIXIA HF M30, in addition to being a brilliant camcorder, is also a superb 3.3 megapixel digital camera. Once again, Canon delivers features and technology that advance convenience and capability. The VIXIA HF M30’s Dual Shot makes it easier than ever to capture both video and photos. You’ll even be able to shoot 3.0 megapixel photos while shooting video at the same time with Simultaneous Photo Recording. Auto Intelligent Auto Focus, AiAF, ensures sharp images and gives creative flexibility. Even when your subject isn't in the center of the frame, the VIXIA HF M30's 9-Point AiAF will automatically select from 9 metering frames on the screen to help bring images into sharp focus. You can also choose from a range of exposure modes including: Auto, AV (aperture priority), TV (shutter priority), CINE and P (program). For optimal exposure, the VIXIA HF M30 offers selectable metering patterns: Evaluative, Center-Weighted Average, and Spot. The AE Bracketing feature of the VIXIA HF M30 automatically takes three versions of the shot, with 'dark,' 'normal' and 'light' settings in ½ exposure steps so you may choose the one that best suits you. The VIXIA HF M30 can capture a rapid succession of photos, just like the motor drive on a digital camera. Shoot up to 3 frames per second in the Continuous Mode, or a blazing 5 frames per second in the High Speed Continuous Mode. For the advanced digital photographer, the VIXIA HF M30 comes with a Histogram Display – a feature found in Canon's line of digital SLR cameras. The display allows you to see the brightness information of your still images, so you can adjust your exposures as you shoot. With the Level Marker feature, it's easy to keep your camera level for more professional-looking photographs. The VIXIA HF M30's Grid Marker feature lets you compose your shot accurately, according to the grid in your viewfinder. Choose from two different colors for the grid to ensure that you see it, no matter what the background color of your shot is. The versatile VIXIA HF M30 even lets you capture a still image from an already recorded movie. While playing the movie in your camcorder, simply press the photo button to capture a 1920 x 1080 photo onto an SD card or to internal memory. You can change the camcorder's frame capture rate to 24p (recorded at 60i), which provides the appearance of the same frame rate as movie film. In addition, you can use the VIXIA HF M30's CINE setting, which changes the color and tonal characteristics, evoking the look and feel of a movie shown in a theater. Cons: Low battery life on standard battery. Touch screen is a bit weird that. Comments: I have Canon PowerShot SX20IS the camera images of the film. Shulman, let me say from the outset that I do not usually give anything a 5 star, but this camera has far exceeded all my expectations. The video quality is excellent. Zoom is great. The image stabilization is amazing. It has a button you press to make it even more and even larger increase in the 15x can, I could get a steady image when the camera is really exceeded my expectations is under water. If I sold the Canon for it and used it diving for two days and was great. Quality is just as well underwater as above! The camera has an underwater mode that really color corrected things under water. And that you can save on the water and give you the opportunity to switch between sub and out of the water (boat) mode with the camera in your pocket. Purchase of equipment and underwater housing is not much more than buying a case of other third party either, so the value was huge for me. There is really nothing negative I say, other then the touch screen is a bit strange too. Comparison with previous models, like the HF100, which also have really improved a lot of problems, such as switching between slow slow or problems with taking still images while recording video at baseline - If you want an HD camcorder great at a good price with the possibility of obtaining one of the cases, less expensive, available in the water, then this is the camera for you. Even if you are interested in underwater recording is a great camera out of the water too! 95 of 103 people found the following review helpful. Perfect camera by Muhammad Kamran Khan I did research for 2 months before buying this camera. I was confused between Canon VIXIA HF200 VIXIA HF and M30, but finally I chose VIXIA HF M30 for the following reasons. 1. HF200 M30 is a previous model in comparison with HF. 2. After reading the specs on Canon's site for each camera and compared with each other two are the same. 3. HF M30 has 8 GB of internal memory, while the HF200 has none. 4. HF M30 is cheaper in price than HF200 5. HF M30 touch screen looks elegant and beautiful and HF200 has no touch screen. 6. HF M30 is the image stabilization, and dynamic HF200 is an image stabilizer to adjust. 7. HF M30 has 5.1 channels (with optional Canon microphone SM-V1 5.1 channel surround sound), on the other HF200 is a system with 2 audio channels. 8. HF M30 can take the class 10 of the SDHC memory card, which has a lot of their critics say that the HF200 HF200 gives them a buffer of streams when they put the memory card 10 in class of their camera. 9. Canon is more worried about their new models to their old model, so as to give constant firmware updates for HF M30, on the other HF200 is not available the updated firmware since its release. 10. I love the manual focus M30 HF200 HF Vixa some owners have complained about the manual focus of the HF200. I hope these points will help consumers amateurs like me to choose the camera that suits their needs and fit into the M30 and HF200 HF. Video quality of the camera is incredibly clear, before any of you want a camera I would recommend them to the videos shot by the camera on YouTube to see in low light to buy.

The VIXIA HV40 uses an RGB Primary Color Filter with Bayer Placement Pattern that separates light into red, green and blue color components. This results in vibrant images with deep, rich, accurate color and natural-looking tones similar to what you'd obtain from 3CCD camcorders. In addition, it is the Bayer pattern that delivers sharp, high definition images without creating false colors. As an added benefit, the CMOS sensor provides outstanding image capture in low light conditions. Canon Exclusive: DIGIC DV II Image Processor DIGIC DV II is the second generation of Canon's exclusive DIGIC DV signal processing technology. Designed specifically for HD, DIGIC DV II ensures optimal image quality. It also ensures optimal image quality for still images, even though video and still images have different color requirements. DIGIC DV II is just another one of Canon's advanced technologies that make the VIXIA HV40 an exceptional performer. Thanks to DIGIC DV II image processing, the VIXIA HV40 produces video with improved color reproduction - especially in skin tones, and dark and light scenes. It also uses a hybrid noise reduction system that employs two types of noise reduction - for high definition images that are crystal clear. Plus, DIGIC DV II enables improved continuous shooting of digital photographs with the VIXIA HV40. You can shoot five (3.1 Megapixel) still images per second, and enjoy faster processing of your images to your memory card (1.4x normal card; 2.5x Hi Speed card). It also helps lower power consumption for longer battery life. Canon Exclusive: SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization Canon's innovative SuperRange OIS combines gyro and image sensors to give image stabilization through a wider range of camera motions. Some image stabilization systems correct one type of camera motion or vibration better than another. But Canon's SuperRange OIS corrects for a wide range of camcorder motion: the fast vibration you'd experience while recording from a moving car; the medium-speed motion of hand-held recording; and the slower motion of body sway. No matter what you're recording and how you're recording it, the VIXIA HV40's stabilization design corrects camcorder shake instantly. SuperRange OIS also delivers steady images when shooting at long focal lengths. SuperRange OIS in action In addition, SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization keeps your shot steady without a loss in image quality - something that can't be said for electronic image stabilization. And image stabilization isn't just for video; you can even use it for taking sharper, clearer digital photographs with your VIXIA HV40. Thanks to Canon's expertise, it's easy to eliminate one of the telltale signs of amateur video and photography. Canon Exclusive: Instant AF (Auto Focus) Since it is critical to achieve very sharp focus when shooting in High Definition, the VIXIA HV40 camcorder features Canon's revolutionary Instant AF focusing system. It offers a dramatic improvement in auto focus speed and accuracy (compared to traditional autofocus systems). The Instant AF feature uses an external sensor, in combination with Canon's autofocus system, to help significantly decrease the time it takes to find focus, even in low light conditions. This system achieves focus instantaneously, reducing focus "hunting." The benefits of Instant AF are especially seen in high brightness and night shooting situations. With Instant AF, it's possible to get fast, accurate focusing, even when following a moving subject. Native 24p Mode This is a feature previously found only on Canon's professional camcorders. Native 24p Mode allows 24 frames per second, instead of the standard 60i, to be captured and recorded. It is a must for serious filmmaking work, as 24 frames per second is the frame rate of film. 24p Cinema Mode As an alternative, 24p Cinema Mode enables all aspiring moviemakers to have another way to achieve a professional "film-look." You can change the camcorder's frame capture rate to 24p (recorded at 60i), which provides the appearance of the same frame rate as movie film. In addition, you can use the VIXIA HV40's CINE setting, which changes the color and tonal characteristics, evoking the look and feel of a movie shown in a theater. For added flexibility, these settings can be used together or independently. Normal mode vs. Cinema mode 30p Progessive Mode Until quite recently, you'd have to look to professional video cameras in order to have this sophisticated tool at your command. In addition to the standard interlaced video frame rate of 60i, you may choose to set the VIXIA HV40 to record 30p Progressive Frame Rate. This is particularly useful for footage you plan to upload to the Internet for sharing. In addition, this setting gives enhanced quality to still images captured after recording. 30p Progressive Mode is also excellent for capturing quick action shots and sporting events. 60i vs. 30p Built-in 3.1-megapixel Digital Camera Canon's advanced image processing technology means your HD camcorder is also a high performance digital camera capable of capturing stunning 3.1-megapixel photos to a miniSD card. It's like having an HD camcorder and digital still camera - all rolled into one. What's more, the VIXIA HV40's many advanced photo features make it a camera that rivals other state-of-the-art digital cameras. With Canon technology, it's not just video and photos - it's the best of both. 2.96-megapixel Full HD CMOS The same Canon Exclusive 2.96-megapixel Full HD CMOS image sensor that ensures sharp, vivid HD video also gives you brilliant digital photographs. Like the CMOS image sensors in Canon's EOS Series digital SLR cameras, the VIXIA HV40's image sensor results in outstanding digital photographs. It gives an impressive resolution of 1920 x 1440 for sharp, crisp still images. Canon DIGIC DV II Image Processor The DIGIC DV II Image Processor, a Canon Exclusive, enables improved continuous shooting of digital photographs with the VIXIA HV40. You can shoot five (3.1 Megapixel) still images per second, and enjoy faster processing of your images to your memory card (1.4x normal card; 2.5x Hi Speed card). Focus Features Auto Intelligent Auto Focus ensures sharp images and gives creative flexibility. Even when your subject isn't in the center of the frame, the VIXIA HV40's AiAF will automatically select from 9 metering frames on the screen to help bring images into sharp focus. Since it is critical to achieve very sharp focus when shooting in High Definition, the VIXIA HV40 camcorder features Canon's revolutionary and exclusive Instant AF focusing system. It offers a dramatic improvement in auto focus speed and accuracy (compared to traditional auto focus systems). The Instant AF feature uses an external sensor, in combination with Canon's auto focus system, to help significantly decrease the time it takes to find focus, even in low light conditions. This system achieves focus instantaneously, reducing focus "hunting." The benefits of Instant AF are especially seen in high brightness, and night shooting situations. It's even possible to achieve fast, accurate focusing, even when following a moving subject. And because a properly focused subject is more critical than ever with HD, the VIXIA HV40 also features Focus Assist. This helps in capturing your subject in razor sharp focus (when you start recording, this assistance is automatically cancelled). Auto Exposure Modes Like any good digital still camera, the VIXIA HV40 lets you choose from a range of exposure modes. Auto mode automatically sets the exposure, letting you concentrate on your subject. AV (aperture priority) mode lets you control depth of field by letting you choose the aperture. TV (shutter priority) mode lets you select the shutter speed for sharp action shots. In P (program) mode, the camcorder adjusts camera settings automatically. Program AE Mode Your life happens everywhere, so the VIXIA HV40 gives you settings that automatically result in the best exposure settings for different conditions and different subjects. Portrait mode ensures shallow depth of field for a pleasing background to your shots of friends and family. Sports mode stops the action with faster shutter speeds. Night mode is designed to give you great shots after the sun goes down. Snow and Beach modes compensate for bright surroundings and give you the proper exposure on your subject. Sunset mode results in vibrant, well-exposed colors for one of the toughest subjects to capture. Use Spotlight mode when your child is on stage and in the spotlight - literally - and you want to make sure the exposure is right for them. And, Fireworks mode records brilliant images of another tough subject - the holiday fireworks display. Simultaneous Photo Recording With the VIXIA HV40, you can record HD video and capture a 2 Megapixel photo to a memory card - simultaneously. Simply press the photo button while recording and you've got an e-mail ready digital photo to share with friends and family. Histogram Display For the advanced digital photographer, the VIXIA HV40 comes with a Histogram Display - a feature found in Canon's line of digital SLR cameras. The display allows you to see the brightness information of your still images, so you can adjust your exposures as you shoot. Level and Grid Markers With the Level Marker feature, it's easy to keep your camera level for more professional-looking photographs. Line up any horizontal lines in your shot - such as the horizon - to the marker and you can be sure your camcorder is level. The VIXIA HV40's Grid Marker feature lets you compose your shot accurately, according to the grid in your viewfinder. You can even choose from two different colors for the grid. This ensures that you see the grid, no matter what the background color of your shot. Still Capture from Tape The versatile VIXIA HV40 even lets you capture a still image from an already recorded movie. While playing the movie in your camcorder, simply press the photo button to capture a 1920 x 1080 still frame on a miniSD™ card. It's another way the VIXIA HV40 lets you enjoy and share your precious memories. Built-in Flash Your VIXIA HV40's built-in flash lets you capture superb photos indoors and in low light conditions. Custom Key Have the same kind of creative input as the pros do! You can assign commonly used functions to one button on the camcorder for quick and easy access. Functions available to choose from include Exposure Lock (On/Off), Auto/Manual Focus, and Auto/Manual Microphone Level Control. Canon Exclusive: 2.7-inch Multi-Angle Vivid Widescreen LCD The 2.7-inch Multi-Angle Vivid Widescreen LCD on the VIXIA HV40 lets you see more of what your camcorder is recording. Using a hard coat AR surface and improved color reproduction, the scene in the viewfinder is more accurate to what you're capturing in the camcorder. An added benefit of this Canon Exclusive is the wider range of viewing angle possible with this LCD screen. With less glare and deeper contrasts, groups of people can gather around it and see the image displayed more clearly than ever before. Advanced Accessory Shoe Terminal Another pro-level feature of the VIXIA HV40 is the Advanced Accessory Shoe Terminal on the camcorder. Attach available extras such as a Canon VFL-1 video light or a Canon DM-50 Directional Stereo Microphone without additional wires or batteries. It's a sure way to help raise the production values of all your videos. HDMI Terminal With the VIXIA HV40, sharing your High Definition video on your HD television is easier than ever. Only a single cable connects your camcorder to your TV for the highest quality playback (video and audio). You, your friends and family will truly experience home theater excellence, straight from your VIXIA HV40 - with no noticeable loss in image quality. Brilliant Video Canon Exclusive - 2.96 Megapixel Full HD CMOS Canon's own CMOS sensor reproduces high-resolution images at 1920 x 1080 resolution with full HD information in video images. Compared to a CCD, the VIXIA HV40's CMOS's high color resolution and advanced color reproduction gives brilliant results. It is also unique in featuring Canon's proprietary noise reduction technologies for crisp, sharp images. Low noise technology also means that even in dimly lit scenes, the signal from each pixel is as pure as possible, with minimal noise or other aberrations. It's the ideal sensor for HD. In addition, the VIXIA HV40 uses an RGB Primary Color Filter that separates light into red, green and blue color components. Seidman, more than ten years ago I bought Sony's legendary TRV-900. It was a consumer camera, so good and so ahead of its time that it remained on the market in four years - an eternity in consumer electronics industry. Canon has a similar product on the HV series HDV camcorders. They have published such an excellent camera two years ago with the HV20, the two new models, because (the HV30 and HV40 now) are really just small improvements in a mature and well-designed product. ** NEW FEATURES ** So let one thing out of the way forward: There really is not much of a difference between this and last year's HV30 camera (which was a slight upgrade to the excellent HV20). As HV20 owner, I felt at home when they arrived and I delivered it. The video quality is roughly the same, they look pretty much the same, and overall performance are the same too. What is different is the addition of 24P recording frame rate that provides a more cinematic, as in the standard 30 frames per second, it should be noted that earlier versions of this camera (as well as AVCHD Canon), but also the software required 24P Additional to get to the 24P video "true" while editing. We recommend that you check to make sure your editing software is a movie that is not true 24p a configuration that is found on many consumer cameras. ** AVCHD or HDV? *** If you read this, chances are you're in the market for a new camcorder. It 'is also likely that you are confused about the multitude of formats currently available: the hard disk, flash memory, tapes, etc., etc., despite the many recording media, culture, consumer cameras can be defined in two fields : AVCHD (the flash based hard drives and cameras) and HDV (tape based). HDV camcorders have two advantages over their counterparts in AVCHD. First, though not as compelling reasons a year ago, the compatibility is the first consumer HDV high definition format and is almost universally supported by most software editing video posted in the last three or four years. In addition, the HV40 also shoot standard DV format to the old definition, a format so old that even the software and hardware can work for ten years with the pictures. Another factor to consider is the FireWire port. Do you want to record directly to your PC or Mac? Or maybe do a live broadcast on Ustream and Stickam? HV40 HDV cameras such as compressed video in real time via Firewire, which AVCHD cameras that do not. But Canon AVCHD camcorders are recording now at a higher bit rate and video compression algorithm is more sophisticated than the better picture quality. Flash-based Canon cameras as well as the circulation VIXIA HFS100 are mostly solid state and the lack of complex (and delicate) machines based video camera to tape, as the HV40 ** * * Conclusion Canon HV20 is a right very mature product launch and continues to mature in this iteration. However, there is nothing so compelling about the HV40 is a required update to the HV20 or HV30 owners. For first time buyers, if you are able to pick up an older model at a lower price that will not make a big sacrifice in terms of features. It is a great camera, no more than previous versions! For most consumer HDV cameras are old technology. In fact, I would not be surprised if the HV40 is the latest film based Canon camcorder released to the market. AVCHD has matured to the point that I am recommending to my friends based HDV camcorders. AVCHD no moving parts, combined with the low cost of flash memory makes it difficult to recommend the extensive mechanical options HV40 But if you are using an older computer or need to stream live video HV40 is one of the best (if not the best) consumer HDV cameras on the market. 84 of 86 people found this review helpful.

Roth cable came faster than expected. works well the video transferred to my MacBook Pro is not that important, but the only thing is that I have received a black cable, not clear as announced in the photo above. I'm not one to criticize someone on something similar, and the discount and the length make it an excellent buy. 5 of 5 people found this review helpful. Not Hosa With Steven S. Kreibach seems a good cable ... but this is not the Hosa brand. seems a bit 'confusing for me, to advertise a Hosa cable, and send a GTMax cable. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. As announced and much less expensive than other cables from the MEC is similar to Belkin for sale online at the Apple Store, but much less, even with shipping. He arrived a few days. People are confused about MiniDV - is not obsolete by Charles Seiler I'm getting really bad because all the people who say they have video of 25 years which is no better than the MiniDV is obsolete! MiniDV records at 500% compression. MINI DVD and hard disk recording and compression chambers flash% in 1500. MiniDV records higher DV AVI format, which has individual tables and editing can be done without loss of quality, once downloaded to your computer. MINI DVD / HDD / Flash cameras are not better in this respect are much worse. Consumer MINI DVD / HDD / FLASH cameras have not reached a level where they can compete with high-end MiniDV tapes. MiniDV take longer to edit. You have to play in real time, but for editing. M MPEG video from Mini DVD / HDD / Flash you have to spend an hour to convert it to uncompressed AVI! Either way, you have to spend an hour makes more sense to start with high quality raw video and then compress it after modification. You can only do this with MiniDV. Mini DVD / HDD / Flash cameras are only good for technology addicts NO, do not care about quality and want to record movies. You will lose more quality with these cameras you with the superior MiniDV. If you use a Mini DVD / HDD / flash camera, you should not edit the video direclty. You have to unpack it and make it a superior in AVI format and given to the question. That means you need to use a video converter on the computer and convert MPEG2 to AVI before editing. With MiniDV you do not need to because MiniDV records to AVI, AVI, and just ready for editing, as it is to only upload in real time on your computer, cut pictures out and then convergence, it is in MPEG2 MiniDV always a bad reputation because it uses a belt. It is not true. Actually bought items with less compression than an equivalent store DVD! Now you know what that means. Uncompressed video is always better than to begin to run on compressed video. Please MiniDV more research before giving him a bad reputation. It is not too old Mini DVD camcorders to uncompressed video, which for all practical purposes, it will never happen to take. This allows the HDD and flash cameras, which will eventually have this opportunity, but they do not have this possibility was not required, so now for the best MiniDV for home-video projects, video editing. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Yes, it's a MinDV format, but I love it too easy editing. With Reversemidasman I use to have a Sony HC-42, but stuck and suffocated in a cartridge MiniDV, so I had to replace it, and what has been studied remaining MiniDV camcorders that use cartridges left many in the end, not cheap. Sony has a HC-52 and Canon ZR960. We went to B ** tBuy to look at the Sony HC-52. What a disappointment for the quality and feel of the camera. Total Rubbish feel to it. I was really disappointed because it is the successor to the HC-42. So I studied and settled for Canon ZR960. Okay, good standard definition MiniDV camcorder. 37x optical zoom is nice, my HC-42 was only 10x optical. It says 41 optical zoom on the ad, but the booklet was 37x optical zoom and another called Zoom Advanced Zoom, 41x zoom, which is some blurb about it can do this without any loss in image quality combo digital / optical. (Hey, that's what they say .. beats me, do not pretend to be an engineer). So he 2000x digital zoom. For me, that I am at 41x zoom setting Lightweight, plastic body felt better in hand than the Sony HC52. Button layout very easy to play and record, felt strong and durable (not something that would be used Breakoff). The Record button on the Canon was an "off-white," Hmmm ... was used to see, but no red.
